About
Looking back we have to ask…Wow…How did this happen? Ironically, it happened much the same way most ideas do. Good friends conversing on the deck on a warm summer night, enjoying a frosty chilly (read beer); wondering what we were going to do with our lives. Of course Bottoms Up Brewhouse was not the first thing that popped into our minds. We ran the entire gamut of ideas. We thought of a designated driving service, a night time child care business, considered combining two popular restaurant concepts, and on down the list. I think we even discussed the value of buying into the emu business. That may have been the beer talking at that point in time. In the end a prevalent theme had
developed.
Like most backyard discussions, none of us thought very much of the content of our ideas. It was merely a way to past the time by dreaming. Then in the spring of 2007, an opportunity presented itself. Almost like a scene from a movie, our dreams took on a serious tone and we made the decision to bring a new bar/restaurant concept to our neighborhood. Within a week, with a brilliant idea by my wife, Bottoms Up Brewhouse was born. I still don’t understand how she was able to get out of bed that night to write it
down, but thank goodness she did.
In the end, we decided to create an atmosphere that was casual but classy. A place we could both hang out and get a good meal. To accomplish this, we decided to combine beer – nectar that allows all of us to socialize in an unpretentious way – and the pin-up girl – the classic image of beauty and a tribute to the American woman. Our goal was to offer something different that you would want to share with your friends. Speaking of something different to share….how about our selection of over 50 beers designed to
highlight craft beers and microbrews. Whatever your pleasure, good food, good beer, or good people; life is good when your bottom’s up!
Lastly, as part of our start-up process, we instituted a new tradition among our friends. If you find yourself involved in a toasting situation (which we all occasionally do), we ask that you complete your toast with “Bottoms Up”, rather than “Salud” or “Cheers”. It is kind of like a secret handshake, when you hear others doing it; you know you are among friends.
Here’s to beer!
BOTTOM’S UP!
